Welcome to Cats Are Magical

Our journey began in 2014 when my future Husband and I started Trixabelle13, a small Etsy shop selling custom laser-engraved jewelry and gifts. We continued to evolve, always researching and learning, looking for the idea that would connect with our goals and our passions. We spent some time with ecommerce selling on eBay and Poshmark but that didn’t give us the connection to our customers we were looking for. Then, in 2020 when the world was locked down for one thing, our family was struck with a different big, scary illness…CANCER. It was terrifying and we knew nothing, true novices. Half a year later, after months of grueling treatment and soul-searching, we were well-ish again. Healed, but different. Changed. We had learned a ton of new information and our vision of the future had been modified. CancerNovice.com was borne from the near desperate feeling I started having while working through my Husband's cancer. I was now the holder of a vast amount of knowledge learned in a very short time. This knowledge needed to be passed on to other wives, girlfriends and caregivers of cancer patients. I had learned the not-so-secret secret of how to get people (in person AND on the phone) to actually help you the first time. In the back of my mind, I knew somehow, some way, I needed to give back, almost like an echo in my mind, "Give back, give back, others need help", repeating over and over.

Living life more happily instead of just more fully became even more important. Our relationship was strong, our glasses were rose colored. And just when we thought we had our new life figured out, the universe intervened again and the care-giver became the cancer patient! Life was upside down once more and the explosion of pink seemed to be timed perfectly with Barbie-core! Health, wellness, self-care, comfort, enjoyment, pleasure – these became non-negotiable parts of our daily life as our family adapted to another “new normal”.

And it was at this time that I discovered something crazy, something buried down deep inside me…I was actually a cat-lover!

My healing came with much sleep and rest and my Husband’s cat became my snuggle companion. I could feel her purrs against my chest. When I cracked my eyes open, she was there. I began to notice that when I stretched, my arms connected with her sweet fur. She would lick my nose as if she was “booping” me. Not only did I become a cat-lover, I became a crazy cat lady. And this was the beginning of Cats Are Magical.

Ever since my sweet baby girl helped me heal, cats are my thing. I believe that the sound and frequency of her purrs somehow helped repair my damaged body and soul. She is the one that made me believe that cats truly ARE magical. Remember that feeling of "give back" that I started having during cancer #1? After my family finished with cancer #3, that feeling is even stronger now and Cats Are Magical is the portal I am using to hopefully spread some joy!
